Writing Stats: General - August 2020
Aug. 2nd, 2020 11:37 amI really want to complete my stories. It helps to keep track of them, so they're not forgotten.
My WIP (not so anonymous) writer's statement:
My name is Jacie, and I have 2 WIPs.
Completed:
Finished two more stories for the Big Bang Challenge! Go me!
BB1: May 22 - June 13 (3 weeks) 29K - Big Bang Level
BB2: Jul 10-14 (5 days) 7 K - Micro-Bang Level
BB3: Jul 18 - Aug 2 (2 weeks) 20K - Big Bang Level
*ETA: I wound up writing one more chapter for BB3 on Aug 7th - it's now at 25K and off to the beta.
BB1 has already been beta'd by Rose, and I've already done the editing. I still need to put a final polish on it.
BB2 has been sent to Naemi for beta. I asked to get it back by mid-late August, but as long as I get it by mid-Sept, it will be fine. It's only three chapters, so it shouldn't take long to edit and polish it up.
BB3 was just finished today. I'd already sent the first chapter and a half to Rose, and she went ahead and did a beta on that much since she was going through it anyway. Since she is enjoying to story, I'll ask her if she wants to beta the rest of it.
Three is the story limit one can submit to the Big Bang Challenge per year, and only one can be a Micro-Bang. At any rate, I've managed two before. A couple other people have managed two before, but this will be the first time ever anyone actually got three stories completed. And I'm so thrilled that they were truly within the challenge timeframe as well (April-August). So yeah, very cool, especially in a year that we're bound to have low participation due to COVID.
Also very cool that I can send completed drafts to each of my artists. Although, I haven't even done a single read-through of BB3 at this point. It's already over 20K, but I won't be surprised if it grows up to around 25K. I'm sure I will add to it. I may even add a "6 months later" wrap-up chapter. We'll see.

I wasn't going to sign up for the RB this year. I really didn't have time and pretty much for years have been writing for one challenge or another. I felt I needed a break. Although, I also wanted to write. I did start something based on a piece that was not claimed. I decided I would claim it if I got close enough to finish a story. Sad to say, there was a lot of family turmoil and issues going on in Feb-April. I simply did not really have time to write. Maybe I'll finish this one day. This revolves around bringing Ziva back onto the team after she left.

This bunny was inspired by artwork posted with Gibbs taking pictures. I started it during the summer (BB writing period...I was struggling with The Contract and started a few other projects during this time, also got several chapters of SOLD! done.) So it's undercover, Gibbs as a photographer. I got a bit further. Still not sure if it will ever get finished.
